In June 2023, the world was gripped by the news of a submarine designed for deep-sea exploration disappearing in the North Atlantic Ocean. This submarine, the Titan, was operated by OceanGate Expeditions, a company dedicated to deep-sea explorations and famous for its missions to the wreck of the RMS Titanic. The Titan was undertaking a dive to the Titanic wreck site, located approximately 12,500 feet below the ocean’s surface, when contact was lost. Onboard were five individuals: Stockton Rush, the CEO of OceanGate, British businessman Hamish Harding, French Titanic expert Paul-Henri Nargeolet, and two other enthusiasts.
